Besides laudable natural and cultural sights, Nanjing also has rich folk customs. Local people display decorative lanterns in the first lunar month, appreciate spring blossoms in the eastern suburbs in the second lunar month and mark Tomb-sweeping Day in the third lunar month and so on. Each famous block in Nanjing has entertainment venues of strong local flavor and leisure places full of cultural atmosphere. All these make visitors to Nanjing reluctant to leave.

The festival is a national activity, which has  been held every February-March since 1996 to  entertain domestic and foreign visitors. During  the festival, singing and dancing performances,  cultural exhibitions and trade exchange are organized. The city-wide carnival events include  activities such as the opening ceremony, song  and dance performances and plum appreciation  activities.

Jiangxinzhou is a national agricultural  tourism demonstration area with a beautiful  environment and clean water, suitable for production of pollution-free grapes. It is a famous  vinyard region in Nanjing. When grapes are  mature in July and August, the grand Jiangxinzhou Grape Festival will be held. It has been  held for 17 years running. The festival features  village tourism, summer delicacies, a creative  fair and parent-child activities. It is highly recommended in the summer.

Gucheng Lake Crab Festival has been successfully held fifteen times. Currently, the crab  industry of Gaochun has become a national  model of efficiently scaled agriculture and a  characteristic and profitable industry in the  building of a new countryside. Crab breeding  in Gaochun County began in 1990. In the beginning, free-range breeding in a large stretch  of water was employed. Now, the breeding area  reaches 15,000 hectares and the annual output  has increased from 156,000 kg to 11 million kg.

Qinhuai Lantern Festival has since ancient time been held in Confucius Temple.  It is also known as Jinling Lantern Festival  featuring popular cultural activities. There is  a great deal of cheerful bustle along the Qinhuai River during the spring festival and lantern festival.
