It integrates tourism,  commemoration, exhibition and leisure. The  attractions inside the park include the Memorial Archway, Zheng He Bell, Museum Square,  Baochuan Museum, the Watchtower, the Ancient Shipyard, and the Treasure Sailing Vessel.  The Memorial Archway is 16.52 meters wide  and 10.82 meters high. The horizontal tablet is  engraved with the characters “Baochuanchang  Shipyard Ruins” and they were inscribed by the  famous calligrapher Wu Zhongqi.

Zheng He Park was originally the private garden of Zheng He’s mansion  when he was the garrison officer of Nanjing.  Inside the park are the earliest Zheng He Memorial Hall, the antique Shuangbao Pavilion and  the elegant Gallery Integration Institute. Today,  it has been developed into an open square which  celebrates cultural themes in the life of Zheng He.

In his later years, Zheng He lived in the  Jinghai Temple, and it was here he placed some  of the rare treasures he took back from his many  voyages. Now, the stone tablet in the Jinghai  Temple is engraved with words of introduction to  Jinghai Temple: “Jinghai Temple was built during  the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty. To reward Zheng He for his fearless voyages, Emperor  Zhu Di ordered that this temple be built for him,  and the title “Jinghai” was conferred on the temple which means peace and calmness.

Tianfei is called “Matsu” in Fujian,  Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and  Southeast Asia. Matsu is respected as the peaceful goddess of all navigators. It is said that Zheng  He’s safe return owed a lot to his devotion to the goddess Matsu. Therefore, he requested the  emperor to build the palace and confer the title  in commemoration. To celebrate the 600th anniversary of Zheng He’s voyages, Tianfei Palace  was rebuilt on the same site.
