Also known as Xiaguan Dock, the Zhongshan Dock is a ferry terminal located on the  south bank of the Yangtze River in Xiaguan,  Nanjing.

In 1929 or the 18th year of the Republic  of China, to welcome the coffin of Sun Yat-sen  from Peking to Nanjing to be buried, the nationalist government built Zhongshan Dock in what  is now Zhongshan North Road in Xiaguan. At  present, it has ferries bound for Pukou Dock on  the opposite bank throughout the year.

Xiaguan Binjiang Block of Historical Buildings of the Republic of China extends three kilometers from Zhongshan Dock in the south to  the Yangtze River Bridge in the north.

This block  is most characteristic of this section of the Yangtze River in Nanjing, with such themed sights as  Xiaguan Memory, Overbank for Water Games,  Yangtze River Charm and Jinling Yunding. The  Xiaguan Memory covers the Zhongshan Dock,  Damalu Road, Capital Power Plant and other  buildings of the Republic of China, where people  can’t help recalling the past.

Built in 1914, Pukou Railway Station is  also known as Nanjing North Railway Station,  and then the terminal of the Tianjin-Pukou  Railway.

As a place name, it often appeared in  the modern history of China, a feature of the  Republic of China. The former site of the railway station is an important heritage site under  state protection.

The John Rabe House is a German-style  building. John H.D.Rabe was the Chairman of  the International Committee for the Nanking  Safety Zone when Nanking was occupied by  the Japanese troops during the Chinese War of  Resistance against Japan.

Both John Rabe House  and the Former Residence of Dr. Sun Yat-sen are  located at the south campus of Nanjing University. During the Nanking Massacre in December  1937, Rabe protected more than 600 Chinese  refugees in this house and the small garden.
