Nanjing Museum, formerly known as the Preparatory Office of the National Central Museum, was founded by Mr. Cai Yuanpei in 1933. It is a large comprehensive museum of history and art.
Nanjing Museum has 420,000 collections of various kinds including more than 2,000 national treasures and national first-class cultural relics. The archaeological items, the cultural relics of various ethnic minorities and from foreign countries, the palace artifacts, the documents of the Qing Dynasty, and cultural relics of the Japanese surrender ceremony during World War II, are all unique in China and have very high historical and scientific value.
